When I see people looking to create their website I start to smile. Little do they know that after spending time designing and re-designing it, populating and re-writing content they will end up spending ten times more time promoting in order to get traffic. Waste of time and energy vs. having yourself listed on “social web” in minutes and creating an army of followers – is what they all miss.
If all you care of is business and connections, why create something and try to spin it out when it is already out there for you? With ton of traffic flowing and tools helping you grow.
Are you an artist? Facebook page is your answer. Want to get more – post your works on Flickr, create a Twitter account, post video on YouTube, Vimeo and form a list of followers / subscribers.
Looking to sell online? Amazon & eBay Stores are your best bets. Forget about SEO-optimizing your website – better spend money on eBay ads.
Are you trying to promote your restaurant / spa / whatever has physical location & offers services? Yelp / Google Local and FourSquare is your path to success.
Young professional and looking for a job? LinkedIn / Google Profile / Twitter / Facebook is where you should be posting your resume /profile.
It is apparent, but not obvious to many of the entrepreneurs, that web changes at a faster speed than anything else they ever used to market their business. So no more ads in glamorous magazines, no more brochures and stupid flyers – rather FourSquare/Yelp coupons and Facebook status updates.
